The USS Edson is a 400-foot long Naval destroyer.
Launched in 1958, the ship spent some time in Long Beach, California and it was used in a 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone called ‘The Thirty Fathom Grave‘.
The episode was about the Naval destroyer investigating spooky sounds coming from a sunken submarine off the coast of Guadalcanal.
After the taping, the Edson made its way to the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam and saw combat over the next few years in the Vietnam War.
In 2012, the Edson became a museum ship and it’s now permanently moored at the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum in Bay City, Michigan (about 2hrs NW of Detroit).
$10.00 entry to the museum and you can tour the Edson.
