Michigan native Frankie Ballard is back in town.
That’s right, y’all. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan and played baseball for Western Michigan University.
Kenny Chesney helped get him his break. In 2008, Ballard got his big break when he won a “15 Minutes of Fame” contest held at a Grand Rapids nightclub. The event was sponsored by radio station WBCT in conjunction with Kenny Chesney’s “The Next Big Star” contest. As winner of the contest, Ballard got to open shows for Chesney throughout Michigan, and then signed with Reprise Records in Nashville. His current label is Warner Bros.
