The S.S. United States was the world’s fastest ocean liner when it was functional from 1952-1969. Eight boilers generated 240,000 horsepower to make it zip across the oceans.
Since 1996, it has sat moored at Pier 84, the Port of Philadelphia.
Now, the mighty S.S. United States might be restored into a luxury cruise vessel for $700 million dollars by Crystal Cruises, the Los Angeles-based luxury cruise line.
