Sinbads Restaurant & Marina has been open since 1949.

Bothers-in-law Prudent “Buster” Blancke and Hillaire “Van” VanHollebecke transformed a ramshackle building that previously was a prohibition-era speakeasy into Sinbad’s.

Its Sohar Room – which is named after Sindbad’s ship – above the restaurant has a panoramic view of the Detroit River and Belle Isle.

The marina has 84 wells.

The International Ship Masters Association (ISMA) Detroit Lodge No. 7 is one of the largest of all the chapters.
