That’s right, folks!
100+ years of glorious hydroplane racing on the Detroit River will be celebrated! The Detroit Hydrofest APBA Gold Cup race started in 1916 and has been going strong ever since.
This is an H1 Unlimited hydroplane boat race on a 2.5-mile course between Belle Isle and Detroit’s Lower Eastside mainland, including two world-famous turns: the Belle Isle Bridge Turn and the Roostertail Turn.
Hydroplanes will be going 200+ miles per hour!
Also, be sure to check out the Michigan Chapter of Antique & Classic Boat Society‘s display of vintage boats from 1916-1970 at the famous Roostertail Restaurant (100 Marquette Dr, Detroit). Shout out to the wonderful Schoneith family who has run the Roostetail for decades!
