One of Michigan’s most popular national music stars will return home for one of Detroit’s most popular summertime events as country and blues star Frankie Ballard will perform at the 2019 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear on Saturday evening, June 1.

Ballard, a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., will bring his chart-topping sound to the Entertainment Stage at Belle Isle on June 1 at approximately 6 pm – right after the checkered flag waves on the first NTT IndyCar Series Chevrolet Dual in Detroit race of the Grand Prix weekend. All Saturday Grand Prix ticket holders are welcome to attend the concert, located in the Meijer Fan Zone, at no additional cost.

With his popular blend of country music mixed with an American heartland rock sound and traditional blues, Ballard has produced three No. 1 hits on the country charts and has drawn critical acclaim for his live stage performances. Rolling Stone selected Ballard’s most recent release, El Rio, as one of the 25 Best Country and Americana albums of 2016.

His second album, Sunshine & Whiskey, featured three consecutive No. 1 singles – “Sunshine & Whiskey,” “Helluva Live” and “Young & Crazy.” The singer/songwriter has performed on The Today Show, Live with Kelly and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and he’s also toured with some of the country’s top musical acts including Bob Seger, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Big and Rich, Kenny Chesney and Lady Antebellum.

“We are excited to welcome one of Michigan’s own true musical stars back home with Frankie Ballard performing Saturday night with us at the Grand Prix,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. “We know that Frankie will put on a great show for all of our fans in the Meijer Fan Zone and the concert will highlight what promises to be an exciting day on and off the track at Belle Isle on June 1st.”

Concluding with the Frankie Ballard concert on the Entertainment Stage, Saturday will be an eventful day at the Grand Prix. On-track action on June 1 will include the first NTT IndyCar Series race of the weekend – the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit Dual I – along with the exotic sports cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competing in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic and the return of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli in the Muscle Car Challenge.
